Compact Thermal Night Vision for Vehicles and Boats

The VERYTEK TC Series Vehicle & Marine Thermal Camera provides thermal imagery for nighttime observation in vehicles, special-purpose vehicles and small boats. It combines an uncooled VOx infrared detector with selectable CVBS or USB output configurations.

Operating in the 8–14 μm spectral band, the camera forms images from infrared radiation and temperature differences on object surfaces. It does not require visible illumination to produce a thermal image.

For marine and automotive equipment installers, the TC Series offers a compact camera with multiple resolution and lens options, a sealed IP67 enclosure and low power consumption. Select the output version and lens according to the receiving display, required scene coverage and installation environment.

Key Features

Three Thermal Resolution Options

The TC Series offers three detector resolutions:

  • TC2 models: 256 × 192
  • TC3 models: 384 × 288
  • TC6 models: 640 × 512

Higher detector resolution provides more image samples across the scene. The resulting target detail also depends on the selected lens and field of view.

For example, the TC2-9.1 and TC6-9.1 both use a 9.1 mm lens, but their listed fields of view are 18° × 13° and 45° × 37°, respectively. Resolution and lens should therefore be selected together.

CVBS Output for Compatible Vehicle and Marine Displays

The CVBS configuration provides PAL analog video output through a 4-pin aviation connector arrangement. BNC or RCA adapter cables support connection to compatible video inputs.

This configuration is suitable for evaluating integration with vehicle monitors, marine displays and fish finders that accept the required PAL CVBS signal. A compatible 10.1-inch CVBS monitor is also listed as a display option.

Check the exact display model, video standard, connector and required adapter before ordering. Compatibility depends on the receiving device rather than the display brand alone.

Optional USB Output Configuration

The USB configuration provides a separate option for compatible USB receiving systems.

Its adapter arrangement includes two USB connections: one for USB video and one for the 5 V defrost power supply. Confirm the receiving device’s operating system, software support and power arrangement before integration.

CVBS and USB are selectable configurations. Simultaneous output is not specified.

Marine-Grade Aluminum Housing

The camera uses a CNC-machined marine-grade aluminum housing with a hard black anodized finish. This construction is intended to improve corrosion resistance in marine environments.

The marine mounting accessories listed in the document include a 304 stainless steel U-bracket and 316 mounting screws. The alternative sheet-metal vehicle bracket is not recommended for marine use.

IP67 Camera Protection

The camera enclosure is specified as IP67. Installation should also protect cable connections and provide secure mounting appropriate to the vehicle or vessel.

Enclosure protection does not remove the need to check connector sealing, cable routing and mounting hardware for the intended environment.

Multiple Fields of View

Horizontal fields of view range from 18° to 110° across the series.

Wide-angle configurations provide broader scene coverage. Narrower configurations concentrate image detail within a smaller viewing area and have longer listed night-observation ranges.

Choose the field of view based on the area to be observed, target distance and camera mounting position.

Defrost Support on Selected Models

Selected configurations support a protective window and defrost function. The specifications exclude the 100°, 110° and 95° horizontal wide-angle versions from this support.

Power consumption is listed as below 2 W during normal operation and below 4 W with defrost activated.

Compact Size and Automatic Startup

The camera measures 52 × 42 × 42 mm and has a listed weight of 180 g. It starts automatically when powered.

Its compact dimensions support installation where mounting space is limited, subject to lens clearance, cable access and bracket requirements.

Applications

Vehicle Nighttime Observation

The TC Series can provide an additional thermal view for vehicles operating on poorly lit roads or sites. The CVBS configuration can be evaluated with compatible aftermarket displays.

Select the mounting position and lens to provide the required view without obstructing vehicle equipment or the operator’s visibility.

Special-Purpose Vehicles

The compact camera can be evaluated for special-purpose vehicle projects requiring thermal observation and a CVBS or USB interface.

Installers should verify power conditioning, cable routing, vibration requirements and receiving-system compatibility for the intended application.

Fishing and Recreational Boats

For small boats, the TC Series provides thermal observation of above-water objects when sufficient thermal contrast is present.

The marine-grade housing, hard-anodized finish and stainless steel mounting accessories support marine installation planning. Display compatibility and environmental suitability should be checked for each vessel.

Marine Display Integration

The CVBS version can connect to marine equipment with a compatible PAL analog video input through the appropriate cable arrangement.

Thermal imagery is an additional observation aid. It does not replace radar, charts, navigation lights or the operator’s lookout responsibilities, and small or low-contrast objects may be difficult to distinguish.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the VERYTEK TC Series?

The TC Series is a compact thermal camera for vehicle and marine observation. It offers three detector resolutions, multiple lenses and selectable CVBS or USB output configurations.

Does the camera work in complete darkness?

Yes. Thermal imaging does not require visible illumination. Image quality still depends on temperature differences, weather, obstructions and the condition of the optical window.

Are CVBS and USB available simultaneously?

The document presents CVBS and USB as configuration options and does not specify simultaneous operation. Select the required interface when ordering.

Will it work with my fish finder or marine display?

It may be suitable if the display accepts PAL CVBS video and the correct connection cable is used. Confirm the exact equipment model and video-input requirements before ordering.

Does the USB version work with any mobile phone or app?

Universal phone or app compatibility is not specified. Confirm the operating system, USB support, software and power requirements with VERYTEK.

Does the TC Series have built-in AI recognition or alarms?

The supplied TC Series document specifies thermal imaging and video output. It does not list onboard AI person, vehicle or animal recognition, automatic ranging or alarm functions.

Does every model support defrost?

No. TC2-2, TC6-4 and TC6-4.6 are excluded from window/defrost support in the specifications.

Can the camera detect every boat at 1,400 m?

No. The 1,400 m figure is the listed night-observation reference for the TC6-13 using the specified boat target dimension. It is not a guaranteed range for all boats, buoys or floating objects.

Is the camera suitable for marine installation?

The document specifies an IP67 camera enclosure, marine-grade aluminum, a hard-anodized finish and stainless steel mounting accessories. Confirm installation conditions, connector protection and maintenance requirements for the vessel.

Can I use it for accurate temperature measurement?

The supplied specifications do not establish calibrated temperature measurement capability or accuracy. The TC Series is presented as an observation camera.
